Pack 12 runs on a combination of family dues and fundraising. We try to keep out-of-pocket costs low for families and use fundraising to cover as much of the program as possible.
Annual dues
Every Pack 12 family pays annual dues that cover:
- Scouting America national membership fee
- Pack 12 program costs — handbook, awards, rank patches, basic meeting supplies
- Sam Houston Area Council fees
The exact total changes year to year. We’ll give you the current figure when you register, and you’ll pay it through BeAScout as part of registration.
No scout is ever turned away from Pack 12 for financial reasons. If dues are a barrier, talk to the Cubmaster privately. We have ways to help, and we keep it confidential.
Pay dues online
Once registered, dues are paid through BeAScout / my.scouting.org. For mid-year payments, special event fees, or other pack expenses, we may also use a hosted payment link — your Cubmaster will send specifics when needed.
Popcorn fundraiser (Trail’s End)
Every fall, Pack 12 participates in the Trail’s End popcorn fundraiser, the official scouting fundraiser. Scouts sell popcorn through:
- Online sales — friends and family anywhere in the country can order
- Storefront sales — scouts staff tables outside local stores
- Wagon sales — scouts go door-to-door (with a parent) in their neighborhood
A portion of every sale goes back to Pack 12 to fund pack activities, and a portion goes into your scout’s individual scout account, which can be used for camping fees, registration renewal, and other scouting expenses.
Strong popcorn sales mean lower out-of-pocket costs for your family. A scout who sells well can offset most or all of the next year’s dues.
Other fundraisers
We sometimes run additional fundraisers throughout the year — pack T-shirt sales, dinner events, or community partnerships. These are optional, additive, and announced as they come up.
Donations
If you’d like to support Pack 12 directly — perhaps a grandparent or former scouting family wanting to help out — we’re grateful. Donations help cover scholarships for families who need help with dues, special events, and gear for the pack to share.
